Admissions and Enrollment – The Croft School

Admissions

Thank you for your interest in enrollment in The Croft School.

In advance of the 2018-19 school year, The Croft School will admit our founding group of students: 16 pre-kindergarten students and 16 kindergarten students.

Admission, which is selective, will be facilitated over the course of three admission rounds. Timelines are detailed below.

Eligibility

Most students seeking enrollment in our 2018-19 pre-kindergarten program will be 4 years old on September 1, 2018. Please contact us to discuss enrollment for students younger than 4 years old on September 1, 2018; eligibility will be considered on a limited basis.

Students seeking enrollment in our 2018-19 kindergarten program must be 5 years old on September 1, 2018.

There are no geographic eligibility restrictions for students seeking enrollment in The Croft School.

Admissions Process

1. Optional: Contact us to get any questions answered. Stay in touch.
Get any question answered by phone or email. We aspire to get back to you within 24 hours.

Call us at (401) 680-9848
Email us at info@thecroftschool.org

And click here to join our weekly update email distribution list.

2. Optional, but Recommended: Let us buy you a cup of coffee.
We think the best way for us to learn more about your family and child, and for you to learn more about us, is through a face-to-face coffee chat. Click here to schedule a coffee with Scott or Cristina at Seven Stars (Hope Street) or Blue State (Thayer Street). While a coffee chat is not a required part of the application process, we recommend it.

3. Required: Complete a Written Application
Click here to launch your application. Like many private schools, The Croft School partners with a trusted outside provider, TADS, to host our online application itself and to provide any technical assistance if needed. Submission of an application (one per child) and a $50 admission fee must be completed by the respective admission deadline (see below).

4. Required: Schedule and Complete a Family/Child Interview with The Croft School team.
This experience is designed for the applying student and at least one of the parents with whom the child resides. It will include conversation with the parent(s) and a conversation with the applying student, as well as activities for the child to complete. The session will last approximately 90 minutes. We will reach out to schedule this with you once you have initiated an application.

5. We will contact you to let you know about our admissions decision by the decision notification date (see below).

6. If admitted, a family can accept and reserve their child’s seat by submitting a 25% deposit by the specified decision deadline (see below).

*Our Round 1 Admissions Cycle accommodates families that have selected The Croft School as their first choice. This option allows families to have their applications reviewed early and enables them to secure their child’s seat, and peace of mind, for Fall 2018. It also gives more time for us to get to know each student better, months before they start school with us.

**An application is complete when the family and student have completed the interview process and submitted the written application, and when we have received a completed teacher recommendation form.

***Families of admitted students must submit a signed Enrollment Agreement and a non-refundable deposit of 25% tuition to accept and reserve their child’s enrollment in the school.

Please note that applications will be accepted on a rolling basis following the Round 3 application deadline (February 28, 2018), but we cannot guarantee that seats will still be available.

Tuition and Fees

For both our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs, we have worked hard to set tuition at a rate that enables us to provide extraordinary quality at outstanding value.

Providence is blessed to have some incredible independent schools, including Wheeler, Moses Brown, Gordon, and Lincoln. We share with those schools a commitment to excellent teaching and a strong sense of community. What sets us apart is that we’re small enough to genuinely personalize the learning experience for each child. And, these schools have beautiful campuses. We will have a nice, but smaller, facility. That is one of the factors that allows us to charge about 60% of the price of the most expensive private schools in or near the East Side.

Kindergarten
Wheeler (2017-18) $32,090
Moses Brown (2017-18) $31,210
The Croft School (2018-19) $17,900

The Croft School: Kindergarten
Our 2018-19 kindergarten tuition is $17,900. See below for information regarding financial support.

Financial Assistance

We do not offer traditional financial aid. However, we offer three types of financial support:

Providing Access to Low-Income Families and Their Children. The Croft School is committed to enrolling a diverse student body. Relatedly, we seek to provide school access to families who would not typically be able to afford private school tuition and therefore reserve at least 10% of our seats for students who reside in low-income households. If your household earns less than $50,000 per year, you may qualify for a scholarship valued at up to 95% of full tuition. Students who qualify for scholarships are subject to the same admission criteria as all other applicants.

Family Volunteer Credit. Exclusively for our founding families (those whose children enroll in our school for the 2018-19 school year), we will provide a $5,000 tuition credit to families who volunteer at least four hours per week, throughout the full school year, in their child’s classroom. At the current time, we intend for this credit to be in effect only during the 2018-19 school year.

Applicant Referral Program. We offer a referral incentive and encourage interested families to spread the word about The Croft School. In order to be eligible as a referring family, the “referred” family must list your family’s name in the designated area on their child’s admission application. If the referred family’s child is admitted and enrolls in The Croft School, the referring family will receive a $1,000 tuition credit. The “referred” family will receive a $250 tuition credit.

Non-Discrimination

The Croft School does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, or disability, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law. We encourage families and students of all backgrounds to apply.
